Disaster Capitalism

Reveals the underbelly of the global aid and investment industry

Disaster Capitalism reveals the dark reality of global aid and investment.

It's a complex web of interests that spans the earth from powerful nations and multinational corporations to tribal and village leaders. The money that fuels this industry sometimes comes from well-intentioned people who donate money after natural disasters. It's also the tax dollars of ordinary citizens in Western countries that are doled out in the name of foreign policy and diplomacy. Disaster Capitalism takes the viewer inside three countries, Haiti, Afghanistan and Papua New Guinea, to reveal how the cause and effect of globalised development and aid is shaping realities in these vulnerable nations. It's topical, controversial, edgy and far removed from what viewers see on their nightly news and daily websites.
